My daughter and I ended our day trip on Vinalhaven with a dip in one of the quarries on the island. There was no one else there, and a tiny threat of rain, but we didn't want to pass up the chance to try it. And we were warm from the sun. There is something wonderful about swimming in an open, wild space. We didn't stay in long, but I am so glad we took the time to check this fun activity off of my list: swim in a quarry. Check.
