Although I have lived near water for years, and enjoy being on boats, I don't paint boats very often. And when I do, they tend to be in the water and in the distance. But one of the nice things about plein air painting with a group, is that the location and subjects chosen for the group pushes beyond what might be my comfort zone. And so, I enjoyed a morning trying to capture the color, chaos and excitement of people getting to put their boats into the water for the summer season. It was a fun way to get myself excited for summer, too. I loved the way the green and red of this craft found itself into the rippling water in front of it.
