This is from a scene from our first visit to Maine. The kids were young and we decided to do our "one trip to Maine" to see what it was like. We had no idea that it would later become our home and take up so much of our hearts. Scott wanted to fish (that comes from my side of the family), and so we had a very small pole along, in the van. While he didn't catch any fish at this spot, he loved the thrill of hoping and the occasional nibble. And, yes, eventually he did get a couple. So many children have mostly virtual experiences now. I'm grateful for the immersion in actual outdoor play that our children were able to access. Maybe that's why they are now both avid outdoor sports enthusiasts! Anyway, I'm grateful to the lovely people of Maine who made us feel so welcomed. When we learned we were moving here, this early visit prepared us for the adventures ahead.
