At the end of the day at this beach in Maine, we crossed a brook as the tide came in. Those who had crossed at low tide streamed back to the main beach where we would not be stranded by the deepening water. And as we went, we turned to watch the setting light spread bright colors across the sky and the water. Everything was in motion, the air, the water, the light above, the sand beneath our feet, the people headed home, everything. And yet, it felt peaceful and calm, joyful. The way life should be.
