This place is a favorite of mine. It's on Richmond Island, just off of Crescent Beach in Maine. We got there via kayak, carefully timing the tides so we were not swept out to sea. On the island there is a three-mile trail around the circumference. It's always quiet. For a small island it has a wonderful diversity of vistas, from small dunes looking out to sea, to quiet wooded glens, to this area of pines lined up along the cliffs. Maybe part of the charm is that it is difficult to access. Or maybe it's just one of those places that exudes peace. We finished our hike with a picnic and then jumped back into our kayaks for the return paddle to Kettle Cove. Another day in paradise. This place is a favorite of mine.
