This was my second time painting at Rockport Harbor. The first time was under the tutelage of Colin Page. Back then I felt too intimidated to try this view. This time I wanted to try to capture the beauty of the rugged red building against the greens of the hillside behind it. The waterfront was in constant motion, so choosing what to put in and what to leave out was challenging. In the end, I put in only a few things, in order to establish the busyness of a working waterfront. I left out the many boats being put into harbor after the winter's storage. And I left out the many cars, because they kept coming and going, and because they are hard for me to paint! This was my second time painting at Rockport Harbor.
