On a recent trip to Maine, I stopped by The Lost Kitchen to both shop in their little market, and to paint (with permission) on their grounds. This scene is looking away from the beautiful mill and pond, back into the trees that house their little cabins. It was a lot of fun to be there, and makes me want to continue to try to win the lottery of a place at a table. Tens of thousands send in postcards, hoping to get one of the rare reservations each summer season. For now, this will have to do, along with cooking from one of Erin French's cookbooks, that is.
