The challenge with streams and waterfalls, when painting, is to see the colors that are there, rather than what one thinks should be there. The deep greens and bright browns of our Maine cascades are a rich and shifting swirl of colors. While painting this I could almost hear the roar of the water, and smell the balsam that filled the air when we took this hike. It's a great way to remember a favorite afternoon hike!
