On my recent trip to Maine I stopped by The Lost Kitchen to paint. I'd asked permission the day before, and came back on a day they were closed so that I would not bother anyone. Although I was there during the day, I decided to paint the beautiful mill and falls as a nocturne. There is something so homey and beautiful about light shining through windows into the dark night. I'm guessing it's a deeply etched part of who we are as humans to be drawn to light and warmth. Some day I hope to win the postcard lottery of reservations for this restaurant, and to drive back up for dinner. Until then, I'll enjoy creating meals from the two cookbooks Erin French has put out, and remembering the beauty of this sight. On my recent trip to Maine I stopped by The Lost Kitchen to paint.
