I remember reading Pearl Buck's "The Good Earth" the first time as a young adult. I read it again about 12 years ago and the book seemed richer and had a much greater impact on my spirit. Now as I paint this Nobel Prize winner for Literature (1938) and read more about her life, I am more impressed with this woman. Her acceptance speech is about freedom and its value.
