In her Nobel Lecture, Alva Myrdal made a point that the building nuclear arms and all weapons of war teaches our children that war and violence are normal and part of society. That it breeds violence in the home and in the streets. That just having all these weapons and the technology and industry for waging a war makes a statement that there will be a victory at the end. An illusion of victory but no victory at all....... So, knowing little about this subject, yet in a discussion about it not long ago, I came to a conclusion. If I were in a position of power to push the button in response to a nuclear attack on my country, I would not push it. It would only mean more deaths and environmental destruction. Is there a point in retaliation? What would you do? Or what do you think most would do?
