I am reading the book “I am Malala” by Malala Yousafzai. When she was seventeen she became the youngest Nobel Prize winner in history. At 12 she publicly advocated for education for girls and all youth. At 14 she was hunted by the Taliban and shot for her advocacy. Although not expected to survive she did so and is continuing to promote education for girls by meeting with world leaders. I have not done an oil portraiture in a while, but I am so very glad that I chose to paint this beautiful and powerful young woman from Pakistan. Let’s have faith that the imagination of youth coupled with a vision such as hers will bring about changes throughout the world we have yet been able to achieve.
