I started this on site beside a trail in the Smoky Mountains. I had gone ahead of my wife on the trail and was expecting her to catch up with me after a while. I drew out this scene and was getting ready to apply the paint, but I got worried when she didn't show up. So, I packed up and went back and found her waiting back at the car. We both heard something different when we parted ways. Anyway, I just pulled this out and used some back up photo reference to finish it. I started this on site beside a trail in the Smoky Mountains.
