I met this guy and his human on a walk near the shore of the Willamette river in North Willamette Park, Corvallis. I believe his name was "Ricky" and he was an expert frisbee dog. I wish I'd taken more photos of him, but I got a few good ones.
Credit for this style of painting goes to Cape School teacher, Charles Hawthorne and his statement that "painting is just getting one spot of color in relation to another. My other inspiration is British artist/designer Ronald Jesty. This was a lot of fun to paint. I cropped the photo, paying careful attention to get variety in the negative spaces around the dog's head. All paintings are abstract designs on a two dimensional surface. The underlying design is in my humble opinion, more important that the actual subject. But a fine subject like this one does add to the attraction, no doubt.
