This painting started as a "splash painting." That's where I start on a
large sheet of watercolor paper or illustration board. I usually pick
three colors and I go to work, partially wetting the surface and
applying paint in usually thin layers and various techniques, like
spatter, sponge, drip, exploded drops (using a straw), latex resist,
foil paint transfer, masked lifts, direct painting with brush, etc.
Then after several rounds and paint overs, I start looking, using a pair
of "L's" to frame off different smaller compositions within the whole.
I outline those with tape. I complete the little composition, using
the same colors, sometimes adding watercolor pencil touches to edges,
etc. That's where this little gem came from. It looked kinda "jungley"
so that is how it got its name. Enjoy!
