This is a small study, done as a precursor to a larger, more complete painting (which is now in the works). I wanted to see how to handle the color and composition first, so I started something very loose and sketchy (and not without some flaws) on this small 6x6" panel. The portrait is of Elle, a model who sometimes poses for our local drawing group. She's a very lovely and sweet young lady. She generously allowed me to take some reference photos of her for use in some paintings. The painting is oil on linen panel (Senso linen with transparent gesso).
