This is my plein air painting that I completed in the day that I attended Hever Castle as a wildcard artist in Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year. it was a baking hot day. I was lucky enough to secure a spot under a tree for the day. I started a painting of the Castle but it was quite a dull composition and direct light so I ditched it and painted this in the last remaining hours. I’m quite pleased with it. It was a really fun day. I got to see how the programme is filmed and met some really nice people. I appear on the programme a few times here and there. I will definitely apply again. Hever Castle dates from the 13th century and is the ancestral home of Anne Boleyn. It’s a really magical place and well worth a visit.
