Portrait of UK singer/writer Will Young via livestream in paint-along while watching former Portrait of the Year winner Christian Hook paint and listening to him philosophise about the creative process on Sky Arts' Portrait Artist of the Week. I did not know anything about Young before, but listening to him for four hours discovered a thoughtful and interesting man. When asked how he felt about sitting for his portrait in front of thousands of artists, Young replied that he loved "being an empty shell, getting ego out of the way." "Nothing in a portrait is a matter of indifference. Gesture, grimace, clothing, decor even -- all must combine to realize a character." Charles Baudelaire The painting will need to dry thoroughly for four weeks before shipping.
