Media: Acrylic stretched canvas
Size: 20x10 in
Red and teal/green are not my usual palette, but I wanted to try something new. I also wanted to try an odd composition where the sunrise is very low on the canvas. The underpainting is green under the sky and vibrant red under the trees. I can't say I wasn't fearful of creating a big mess with such complimentary and "Christmas-y" colors. But somehow the piece works. :-) The yellows and white of the sun and sky put a barrier in place between the red and green. Plus, the muted teals in the sky dampen the vibration of colors and create harmony. Red and teal/green are not my usual palette, but I wanted to try something new.
