Got spring fever? I do. My fever subsided a little bit while I worked on this painting and thought about hunting for morels in May up around Mesick and Yuma (Michgan). What’s better than new leaves and trilliums? Not much. This piece has a bright yellow underpainting which carries the sunlight across the surface of the piece. The unblended brush strokes cause your eye to bounce around the composition, as it would if you were out in the forest, listening to the birds, smelling the spring wild flowers, and hoping for a clue about where the morels are hiding.
