This seemed like an odd place to find a train depot. It turns out, there’s a steep grade headed west from this location toward Los Angeles, and it was too much for the old steam trains to handle alone. So, Kelso was established to provide the trains with plenty of water and to house other engines that would join in to help pull the trains up the grade. At its highest, the town’s population was around 2,000 in the 1940’s. *does not include frame or matte. Please reach out to me via email if you'd like to purchase this piece framed.
