A Stork came to visit our cottage by the St. John's River and decided to stay for a short while and I painted him/her during this rather long pose. (A long pose for a bird that is.) As I worked it occurred to me that it was a good thing I had put aside any childish ideas I might have held about storks bringing babies to your doorstep. Our two sons are grown and we are empty nesters now. My babies are my garden vegetables and flowers at this stage of our lives, not newborns.
