This painting has tugged at me for months - one of my favorites ever painted. Finally I decided to paint the scene again in a bigger size with a more moody sky. The sisters might be chatting or searching with their eyes for the boat they expect on the horizon. I loved working with this subject and all of the mystery it suggests. I will likely visit it again in some way.
