This is the first painting I painted in this new-to-us house after the fire. It's a wolf at the Minnesota Zoo, and I love the light, and how her head is lowered and her eyes are nearly closed against the light. That brightness in the winter, where the shade is so cold and yet when you step into the light, you can feel the warmth, even if it isn't quite warm enough to really make you want to lay down and bask in it but you can feel the hope of spring, of coming green.
