From the National Park Service: Walk among old growth coast redwoods, cooling their roots in the fresh water of Redwood Creek and lifting their crowns to reach the sun and fog. Federally protected as a National Monument since 1908, this primeval forest is both refuge and laboratory, revealing our relationship with the living landscape. One of my favorite places in the world. Today I'm thinking about beautiful California and all the problems it is currently facing. I was born there and lived there for my first 38 years. Many of my family members are still there, including my brother, his wife and son. They have been very adversely affected by the terrible Eaton fire, but they are alive, thank goodness.
