The estate I reside on today was previously owned by my Great Uncle Frank. During the mid 1900's he had a thriving fruit orchard located near our present home. With his passing in the 1970's the orchard declined with the trees slowing dying. After having lived on the estate for some time my wife and I decided to slowly replant the orchard with fruit trees. We planted several during the spring of 2012 but the devastating drought of that year killed many of the trees. However, one apple tree survived and last summer produced fruit. This painting is based on reference photos taken of the tree's fruit.
