"Dawn Over Blackwater" is an evocative landscape painting that I created to capture the serene transition between night and day. The composition features a tranquil scene set at either dusk or dawn, where tall trees with sparse foliage stand majestically in the foreground. Their reflections gently ripple across a calm body of water, enhancing the overall tranquility of the piece. Beyond the water, a dense silhouetted forest of loblolly pines, their dark forms beautifully contrasting against the soft, gradient sky at first light. Inspired by my real experience at Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, I aimed to convey the soft hues and stillness that defined that fleeting moment.
