Olieri is the term I learned for my oil can when living in Italy many moons ago. I coulnd't verify it anywhere but anyway that's my story and I'm sticking to it. It's one of my favorite shiny things and the pear wood handle is the most gorgeous grip. It gets a lot of love use in our busy kitchen.
