The title "Notorious" refers to a term about a person, place or a situation that has gained a negative reputation for something that may repeat itself or appear to be beyond hope. I needed to paint a portrat of a woman who, unfortunately, has become a victim of our time - a time where the pursuit of a perfect look, career and private life has become notorious. Endless self-reflection has evolved into a kind of oracle where the value of ageing with dignity has almost been eradicated. Such an "oracle response" that we get when we look in a mirror is, at best, ambiguous. The premises relating to our own lives have been set by others.
