I still get to go to my childhood home in Portsmouth, VA, a home located on the Elizabeth River of the Chesapeake Bay. My parents also grew up in Portsmouth. One day my Mom taught the grandkids how to use periwinkles tied to string to lure and catch minnows, something she used to do as a girl. Here is my middle child by the tall grasses putting this skill to practice. I don't live close to the water anymore, so Im always glad to take the kids to their grandparents' house to experience these childhood activities on the river. Maybe one day my daughter will be able to teach her granddaughter. I still get to go to my childhood home in Portsmouth, VA, a home located on the Elizabeth River of the Chesapeake Bay.
