I’ve been making an effort to do the monthly challenges more regularly. This color challenge stumped me until I found an image of a mandarin duck on pixabay. Since I love painting birds I thought it would be somewhat easy, but it wasn’t. My typical approach to painting birds did not work and I ended up wiping it off. My next approach involved focusing on the colors only. I started with the most saturated colors and slowly worked around them. Then I began to focus on the shape of the bird. It was very surprising how quickly it came together. This challenge gave me a new abstract perspective on how to paint.
