It has been a little over a week since we saw, in disbelief, shocking images of the devastation of the March 11 earthquake and its subsequent tsunamis in Japan. Now the unprecedented nuclear crisis compounding the misery of the survivors there, many of us are asking, what can we do to help?

I am pleased to host the Help Japan Challenge especially because it is dedicated for us artists to raise money to help those who were affected by the recent disasters in Japan (click here to read about how this challenge works).

As a fund-raiser, this is a bit different from our usual Challenges. There's no specifc set-up or instructions. I have chosen "home" as a theme. All I ask you is to paint whatever comes to your mind when you think of your home.

I was born and grew up in Japan. I still have family and friends there whom I visit every year. "Home" for me is often captured in the form of a landscape or a streetscape that I find personally meaningful.

For you and for this Challenge, it could be anything - your mom, your child, your house, your childhood pet, a view from your room, a street scene of your old neihgborhood, flowers in your backyard... The possibilities are endless and it's up to your imagination. After you enter, tell all your friends and collectors about this event and encourage them to bid. The more money we raise as a group, the better.

If you sell your work, please agree to donate the proceeds to an organization who collects donations for disaster relief efforts in Japan. Also, please indicate where you will donate to in the description for your painting.
