Patty Voje, an award-winning representational artist, is celebrated for her expressive brushwork, finds inspiration in the emotional world of animals, especially cattle. Raised in the countryside, the youngest in a bustling family of nine, Patty’s artistic journey is deeply intertwined with the farm animals that she considered part of the family.
As both a studio and plein air artist, Patty seamlessly merges her love for travel and painting. Now residing in the city, she draws renewed creativity from the quiet charm of small towns, sprawling landscapes, and the enduring presence of cattle—scenes slowly fading from the American vista.
Patty’s field books teem with cattle studies awaiting transformation in her studio. Preferring artistry over precision, she embraces the alla prima style, giving her paintings a loose, painterly feel, completed in a single session. Rejecting corrections to imperfections, Patty believes they capture the raw and joyful essence of her subjects, the endearing quirks of a cow’s face being a noteable example.
Patty lives and paints in Saint Paul, Minnesota. She accept commissions (particularly pet portraits) and also teaches workshops, online and in person .
