Tune in October 22, 2022 to see me and some of my students on the long running syndicated television show Texas Country Reporter with Bob and Kelli Phillips! Its Season 51, Episode 8. Visit texascountryreporter.com for viewing times in your area.

My solo retrospective "Transformation in the Wild World of Mark Nesmith" is on view at the Longview Museum of Fine Art through September 24, 2022. The LMFA is also adding two of my paintings to their permanent collection!

I’m a Texas based artist finding inspiration in the everyday beauty of the world. I’ve been a public-school teacher. I’m also a musician, a husband, a father, and an animal lover.  I’ve been fortunate over the years to show my paintings at the Longview Museum of Fine Art, the Art Museum of Southeast Texas, the Museum of East Texas, the Dishman Art Museum, the Museum of the Gulf Coast, and the Mesquite Arts Center as well as in galleries throughout the country. My paintings have appeared in American Art Collector, Art Reveal Magazine, the Austin Chronicle, the Dallas Observer, Empty Easel, Professional Artist Magazine, VIP, Voyage, and more. I’m honored to have paintings in homes and collections in thirty states in the U.S. and hope to one day have paintings in all Fifty Nifty United States and overseas. A few notable collections include the Longview Museum of Fine Art, the Dishman Art Museum, Duke University, Grant Thornton LLP in Dallas, TX, Kansas City, MO, and Wichita, KS, The Honorable Ron Clark, Chief Judge U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, and the Lone Survivor Foundation.

“Impressionistic. Textured. Layered. Mark Nesmith’s oil paintings have the drama of all three, with one last surprising element: a wonderful stillness derived from his choice in subject matter.” – Cassie Rief, Empty Easel

“…expertly crafted work that walks the line between traditional and contemporary.” – Caitlin Greenwood, The Austin Chronicle

“…paintings with the boldness of a drawing with good line work and the scintillating quality of impressionistic paint application.”Blake Bertrand, Off Ramp Magazine

"If Andy Warhol and Bob Ross had an inanimate love child, it would be a Mark Nesmith painting." - Rachel Williams, the Dallas Observer
