Hi, I'm from Scotland and I now live in Southern California.

I paint, hold workshops and teach painting in Burbank, CA. My artistic passions range from painting the figure, landscape especially in France and still life subjects. I find my subjects in many walks of life and I bring them into the studio to model. I love to recreate an impressionistic environment on the canvas that tells a story. Sometimes I paint from reference photos. I paint to tell the stories of everyday people in their environment. Painting wet on wet with a balance of loose and tight brushwork, I let color and light create interest and focus. More about that on my website.

I create on canvas, and I create my life. It took some shifting things to make it happen, but I now manage to live on two continents. I travel to Southern France every year to paint and be completely immersed in the culture, food and wine, the beauty of Provence, and the wonderful experience of painting alongside like-minded artists.
