Elisabeth Seeger - Painting the Northwest in OilPlein Air and Studio Landscapes in Oil I have been drawing and painting landscapes for as long as I can remember. I enjoy the many moods of air, land and water, especially in Washington State. I painted mostly in watercolor until about 1993 when I moved to California and discovered oil painting. I have studied continuously since then, taking workshops from the Plein Air Painters of America, John Budicin and Jim Wilcox. Painting outside on location is captivating, challenging and satisfying. I also especially admire the work of Clyde Aspevig, Tucker Smith, Kevin MacPherson and Jay Moore among others.
The exquisite mountains and seascapes here in Washington State make for endlessly exciting painting opportunities. (It doesn't rain ALL the time!) Variable weather makes for mysterious and often spectacular views of land and water.
My goal is to create excellent works that catch the light and life of the natural world here, paintings that people will want to own and enjoy for years.
I hope you will want to visit my site often, especially as I continue to build it up and add new work frequently. Thank you for visiting!
