"Winter Light" will be a collection of oil paintings celebrating the many different seasons of winter here in interior Alaska. April's paintings capture the rich low angle light that we experience during the days leading up to and following winter solstice, and how the light changes and becomes stronger creating to most beautiful sunlight and shadows on our late winter and early spring snow.

Capturing Everyday Beauty with Paint brings awareness to the beauty of the daily surroundings in the Interior by capturing the changing light throughout each season. April's works are representational, impressionistic oil paintings, preserving an ordinary moment of Interior beauty with confident, bold brushstrokes and vibrant color.

This 3-day plein air oil painting workshop will include lectures, hand-outs, demonstrations, and individual instruction on the process and approach to painting outdoors. The workshop will take place on location in Pioneer Park taking advantage of the variety of subject matter. The class will meet from 9am-4pm each day. All levels of experience are welcome! April will demonstrate and teach her approach to plein air painting, focusing on values, composition, shapes, and color. Students will come away with the tools to confidently paint outdoors. Participants will provide their own art supplies and meals. A comprehensive list of recommended supplies will be provided. There will be a maximum of 8 participants with a minimum of 6 to ensure quality individual instruction.
