This has been one of the most difficult pieces I've created in scratchboard to date. It took over 200 hours to create. This is not an exact number as I lost track! I'm so pleased with the results though. I believe I've almost captured the beauty of the antique lace. It is so delicate and beautiful in person. Another one of my favorite items in this picture is the ewer (on the left). It's stamped "Niloak" on the bottom and I had to look it up to see what that meant. I was so surprised to find out that the name is "Kaolin" backwards which is the type of clay used to make it! Which is ironic to me because kaolin is the type of clay in the scratchboard that I used to draw it. Amazing!
