This was painted at a working Amish farm in Holmes County, Ohio for the Ohio Plein Air Society annual plein air competition. This is the view from Holmes County Home, a nursing facility on the same property. They were setting up for their annual benefit auction. Everyone was so welcoming and curious about my painting. Some little Amish boys kept coming back to see my progress. Two brothers had matching hand sewn purple shirts with suspenders and matching wide rimmed hats. I asked one of them take my picture from my phone, which he was very unsure about doing. He probably had never seen one before! They were just excited that they would get to have "pop" that day. The simple life is where it's at! It's these experiences that make plein air painting so rewarding.
